What We Do

Established in 2019, Friends of Putnam works to revitalize the community by engaging citizens to focus on positive change.

Our Mission — Why we exist

To build a safe, healthy and vibrant community to encourage new families to move in, to encourage growth of local businesses, to develop new social events, and to protect our historical resources so we can revitalize our neighborhood.

Our Vision — Where we are headed

To be a location in Zanesville that people want to live, visit, patronize, and socialize. We will have pride in our community and keep growing and working with others to adapt to the future.

Our Strategy — How we get there

We will focus on short term and long term goals through the establishment of committees aimed at promoting health and safety within the community, as well as encouraging growth and vibrancy.

Our Values — Who we are

We consist of citizens in and around the Putnam area who’ve come together to work and support our local government and other non-profit organizations to revitalize our home for future generations. We value open mindedness, building partnerships, and positive change — what can we build, rather than focus on what isn’t right.

“We can’t expect to solve the homeless problem. We can’t expect to solve drug addiction. But if it’s some small way we can make this better than we found it, then we win.”

— Mandy Jennings, Friends of Putnam Vice President

What We’ve Achieved

  • Creation of a community watch program that patrols and protects the neighborhood

  • Construction of several committees aimed at promoting health and safety and encouraging growth and vibrancy within the community

  • Development of partnerships with local government and businesses

  • Establishment of regular community cleanups that have resulted in the removal of trash and abandoned encampment in the neighborhood
